All are welcome to join in the fun! Kids, decorate your bike, scooter or wagon in patriotic theme and help lead the parade.

PLEASE ENTER THE NUMBER OPTION INDICATING YOUR ENTRY TYPE AND NOT THE DESCRIPTION.

Online registration deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, June 26. You will receive an email confirmation in the form of a receipt.
By Friday, June 30 you will receive an email with your entry number and specific staging time.
The parade will begin promptly at 10am.

Fairy Garden Workshop - 114020

Discover some tales, myths, and explore a bit of folklore behind these fantastical creatures. Are they spirits, sprites, or do they really exist? Get a little spritely yourself and learn how to design and plant your own fairy garden while socializing and exercising creative thinking skills. Outdoor Adventure Camp - 140088

Studies have shown that the average American youth spends as few as 30 minutes in unstructured outdoor play each day and more than 7 hours each day in front of an electronic screen. Come battle this statistic while participating in fun outdoor activities throughout various Sioux Falls parks. Fish at Family Park, learn archery skills from The Outdoor Campus instructors at Great Bear, discover outdoor safety skills, and explore hiking trails during this exciting camp. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring a full water bottle each day. Class location details will be released upon registration. Ages 7+.

Active stroll is a mom and me stroller and exercise class designed to get the moms walking and meeting new moms. Each day, we will incorporate some exercises that you can do while walking. The Great Cardboard Boat Race - 160009

Don’t laugh! Cardboard boats really can float! In fact, many boats raced three times at our previous events. Of those, we expect many will return and go for it once again. But here’s the catch: you may only use corrugated cardboard and duct tape. Use your imagination. Cardboard may be waxed. Hers a hint: if you layer the cardboard, it will be much stronger. No wood, Styrofoam, fiberglass, or plastic, except for your oars and paddles. All boats must be powered by humans 7 years and older. Five age divisions. All boats will be judged based on creativity, sea-worthiness- and quickest to sink! Come join in on the fun and win some prizes. Each boat will need two participants, one at each end of the pool. Life jackets for this event will be provided by Parks and Recreation and must be worn by contestants. Swimsuits required. Free. Registration required.

4th of July Bike Decorating - 170019

What better way to be involved with the 4th of July celebrations then by having your very own decorated bike to ride in the parade! You bring the item; we will provide the decorations. No battery- or motor-powered vehicles will be allowed. Then, if you would like to join us, we will meet on Tuesday, July 4, and march in the Mayor’s 4th of July Parade. We will even store your decorated item until the day of the event. Stick around after the parade for all the fun festivities at Falls Park.

Star Gazing - 170095

Star gazing is a favorite family pastime for families of all backgrounds. This astronomy program will allow you to meet other people with similar interests as you peer through telescopes and learn about South Dakota’s night sky. Join a professor from Augustana University to learn tricks and tips that make discovering the night sky more exciting than ever. Meet in the historic barn picnic area on the south edge of the park. Program is dependent on sky conditions. Inclement weather date is August 15.

After getting your blood flowing by participating in a guided night hike, participants will conclude the night socializing and relaxing around a campfire while enjoying delicious s’more creations. Did you know that your brain has a specialized region just for navigating the environment around you? Come exercise this essential organ while learning the art of reading a map and compass. Studies show that individuals who understand how to use a map and compass have an increased level of brain function and are more likely to feel connected to their surroundings. After an introduction to the fundamentals of reading a map and using a compass, participants can test their skills by completing a short orienteering course located along the hiking trails at Great Bear Recreation Park.
