Deep Water Tabata - 920033

This is a no impact, intense workout. Various moves done using the resistance of the water and other equipment such as noodles and dumbbells. The moves will incorporate cardio, core, and strength so you can leave knowing you received a total body workout.

Lifeguard Review Course - 999001

The lifeguarding review course allows currently certified lifeguards or no longer than 1 month expired certification to review the content of the lifeguarding course in a classroom setting in about half of the time of a full lifeguarding course. Prerequisites include: participants must have a current certification or no longer than 1 month expired certification in lifeguard and CPR/AED for the professional Rescuer, show American Red Cross Universal Certificates indicating Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR for the professional Rescuer (or a recognized equivalent certificate).
Participants who successfully complete the lifeguarding review course will receive new certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer.

Lifeguard Training - 999002

This course trains individuals in the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Prerequisites: minimum age 15 by the last day of the course; successfully pass a precourse screening and testing; swim 300 yards continuously in the following manner: 100 yards front crawl with rhythmic breathing and a stabilized kick, 100 yards breaststroke (with a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence), 100 yards front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of the two; swim 20 yards using crawl stroke or breaststroke; surface dive 6-10 feet and retrieve a 10 lb. brick, and return to the starting point with both hands on the brick (this must be completed within a certain time limit); tread water for two minutes using only your legs.

Water Safety Instructor Course - 999003

This dynamic American Red Cross course teaches the dedicated individual how to instruct infants, children and adults in water safety and swimming lessons. The two-weekend course features a training time of 30 hours and 30 minutes, including the precourse session, and is open to those at least 16 years old. Through video and hands on skill building, the course includes all the water safety and drowning prevention tools and information needed to plan and conduct courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Ask about employment incentives with the Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation aquatics staff. SFPR Aquatics staff reserves the right to hire only the most qualified and dynamic applicants for all positions and does not guarantee employment based on training completion. Fees for the class include all materials, including books and certification cards upon successful completion of course requirements. Because the course content is fast paced and power packed with information, all course times and dates must be attended. An additional $35 fee required to the American Red Cross.
